BYOD

BYOD

As part of our ongoing commitment to future focused learning, Terranora Public School will continue to implement our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program in 2020 for all students in Year 4, 5 and 6.

BYOD refers to students bringing a personal technology device to school to use for educational purposes under the direction of a teacher. For the purposes of BYOD, ‘device’ means a privately owned iPad.

The school will provide the ability to connect iPads to a filtered DoE internet service which will provide safe, secure internet access for students.

The implementation of BYOD has proven to be highly successful, achieving the following outcomes:

  • Bridging the gap between school and home;
  • Personalised and differentiated learning utilising a variety of apps to produce quality pieces of work and adjust to learners’ needs;
  • Providing best teaching practice by redefining and modifying what students can do;
  • Students having more autonomy with their learning and the opportunity to work collaboratively;
  • Building student organisational skills and sense of responsibility;
  • Engaging students; and
  • Real time sharing of student’s work to provide effective feedback and to share with parents.
